Canvas "Always Look At The Bright Side Of Life"

Ask what happened.
They built a pier for cruise ships in our town. They cemented a long pier, dug a deep bottom, installed facilities for boarding passengers, and so on. And now they're waiting for that first ship.

But they said that a storm was approaching, so the ship wouldn't arrive yet. Meanwhile, eight barges with old tractors and combines were sailing past, and that storm would be their last. So, the admiral of the barges asks, could we wait in your harbor until the storm passes?

Well, the harbor master says, why not, please, just don't step on our new pier with your dirty shoes.
And the barges quickly sailed in, moored, and the captains went to the bar to have a drink.

The storm came with all its might, the waves were wild, they even rolled over the pier, and the barges couldn't hold it and started to bubble. All eight of them, with all the tractors and combines.
And all eight captains were terribly upset and ordered another one.

So, let's say there was a disaster. The barge owners were tearing their hair out, the town mayor was crying because he had already invited a cruise ship and held a grand welcome party the next day, and now here's a piece of ass.

That mess lasted nine months. It took them to pull out the barge, to catch the tractor, and even longer to collect, scoop up, and filter out the leaking fuel oil.
Literally, the first cruise ship arrived only nine months later.

But that's not the end: he's arrived, but he doesn't know how to sail away - the harbor gates are narrow, and the captain is afraid to sail astern. He says: I won't risk it, I'll mess something up - call an experienced pilot to help steer him away.
What are you going to do, you have to call. And those pilots didn't waste time - it took two days before they found someone, until he arrived. For two days, three thousand ship passengers sat in the port, loitering around the town, not knowing what to do, while their vacation was going on, the days were ticking, and nothing interesting was happening.

In short, that ship was the first and the last.
It's been four years since anyone has sailed.

But wait, why am I telling you this?
Because that's what my painting "Always Look At The Bright Side Of Life" is about.
Because even in the worst situation, we can see the good sides.

Here's the thing: one of the eight captains went to the hospital after that drinking spree, where he was told, "Brother, if you try to drink again, you'll die." And he stopped, and to this day, he hasn't had a drop.

And one more thing: during those two days and two nights while the cruise ship was docked in our town, a couple of travelers met local ladies and one lady married a senior citizen. The other one somehow didn't work out, so she still sighs when she looks at the pier.

And the most fun part is that we have an interesting story that we are reading and enjoying.
